A bit about Laos

The country is a landlocked in Southeast Asia. It shares borders with China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Burma and Thailand.

Briefly colonlized by the French, it gained independence in 1949, and now has a communist ruling party.

Vientiane is it's capital.

Ramsey and So's school is near the south close to Salavan. Most people enter from Bangkok Thailand into Laos through Pakse (Pakxe on the map).

Economy: Laos trades heavily with Thailand and Vietnam and has a lot of investment from China. 80% of the population work in subsistence farming which makes up over half of its GDP.

Religion: 70% Theravada Buddhists (mixed with animism and spirit worship), 1.5% Christain, and the rest is other.

Legacy of Bombs: Laos is the most bombed country in history. More bombs were dropped in Laos in the Vietnam war than in all the countries of WWII combined. Many of the U.S. pilots unloaded their ammo on Laos on the way back to their Vietnam base in order to save on fuel and meet bombing quotas. There's an estimated 300 000 000 unexploded bombs left in Laos today.
